Per the subject, I have several sites running SMSMSE 7 and despite using Rapid Release Defs every few hours the amount of e-mails with Trojan .exe's in .zip files that still get past SMSME is obscene. In an ideal world we'd have gateway filtering too but we don't and SMSMSE is DESIGNED to detect viruses. It clearly needs some help in the detection department, whether that's adding Sym Insight based detection too or not I don't know but when competing products at other sites are detecting the vast majority without issue there's clearly something not quite right.
But we work with what we've got and as such, we set up a Content Filtering rule that simply quarantines anything with an Executable, this is great (and I haven't had a complaint since setting this up over 6 months ago, the legitmate reasons for e-mailing .exe's are practically non existent) BUT the end-user just ends up being spammed with Quarantine Notification e-mails.
I've searched for solutions to this in the past and I can't find the article now but the recommendation in the past was to set up an Exchange Transport Rule to delete them (or re-route them as appropriate etc) - I can do that but it adds un-necessary headers to the e-mail and I don't personally think it should be necessary in the first place. Is there no way that Quarantine Entire Message without Notification can be added to SMSME?
